    The correct answer is B

Always turn wheels away from the sidewalk curb when parking uphill and parallel to the sidewalk. The wheel should gently touch the curb. The curb will help to stop the vehicle from rolling further especially incase your parking brakes fail.

Parking on gradient hill

When parking facing downhill turn your wheels towards the sidewalk curb, apply the handbrake, and put the car into reverse gear (if it’s a manual transmission).

This is because the older style of handbrakes, which is holds the hind wheels as the first line of resistance, have a tendency to loosen after being applied when the mechanism is hot and then cools. Hence if you have not pulled the handbrake hard enough, the vehicle could roll forwards down the slope.

Putting the car into reverse gear is the second line of defense because it provides a lot of resistance since the engine would not want to turn over, which is what would happen if the car starts to roll forwards. The opposite is true if you park your vehicle facing uphill. While you still need to turn your wheels towards the kerb, you will put it in first gear in a manual car (or Park in an automatic).

If the car still rolls down, turning your front wheels towards the sidewalk curb will turn the car towards the curb which will stop it provided that it doesn’t have so much speed or if the curb is not high enough.

With an automatic transmission car, ‘P’ stands for park, and prevents the vehicle from rolling forwards or backwards.
